Lavender Oil – Homemade

What do you need?
1/4 cup dried lavender flowers (Make sure the flowers you use are completely dry else your oil will go rancid.)
3/4 cup grape seed oil
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup almond oil
1 glass jar with lid
Electric candle jar warmer (or Mr. Sunshine)

Mix the lavender flowers and the oils into the glass jar. Make sure oil covers the flowers. Now the mixture needs to be heated with low heat for a period of time so that the oil can absorb the fragrance from the flowers. I am impatient so I’m using a candle warmer for jar candles to heat my oil mixture. I’ll let it heat for several hours before straining the mixture through cheese cloth to remove the lavender from the oil. If you wish you can place the jar with the oil and flower mixture in the sunshine and let it heat and cool for 30 days. Once strained I’ll place the oil in a pretty jar and use it for my dry skin, or mix some with bees wax and make a cream.

The next morning I reheated the oil mixture, added beeswax pearls, stirred the mixture till the beeswax dissolved. Poured into 4 ounce jars to cool. Tada! Lavender salve for dry skin!
