Question..

If you were driving down the road, and saw someone who’d layed their motorcycle down (and the rider was still trying to get free from it), would you:

a. Stop and offer assistance.
or
b. Drive on by, not even slowing down. (this could be even multiple cars, all driving by)

Until it happens to you, or someone close to you, you’d be surprised at the answer. People can be A$$’s. I mean if I saw someone lay a bike down right in front of me I would stop.. not just keep on going. Maybe I’m not big enough to get the bike off of them, but I’d at least try.

OH another thing. If your driving your car/truck/whatever down the highway, don’t get on the bikers tail.. give us a little room. Last thing a biker wants to know is if something should go wrong, that this AH behind us won’t have the distance to stop..believe me when I say bikes have a shorter stopping distance than a car.

All right..I’ll shut up now.

You know

I found this little ditty while surfing.. and I have just one thing to say. ” **censored** ” I never liked him much anyways.

New Digs

Yep.. spent most of the day waiting on the fence people who called at 5pm wanting to know if they could still come out (were supposed to be here at 2pm). Right now they are supposed to be here around 7am tomorrow..I was just tired of waiting on them. During my ‘waiting time’ I did a little moving around. My computer now has its happy home in our front little ‘formal’ room. No wires too! I might change out the lighting..but a chandelier does add some character to web surfing and blogging. Hmm.. I wonder if one of those Murano glass lamps would look good in here.. I’ll have to ask Nikki about their sizes. If I think it will work (and depending on the cost), I’ll ask her to pick one up the next time she’s in Venice, then ship one over before she comes to visit in August. ((crossing fingers that it survives a trip from Italy)) but then again all the goodies I shipped from there made it fine..except for one piece of pottery that was cracked, and USPS reimbursed me for it, but only the cost, not the shipping.

Wondering what the new digs look like? Here’s a little picture:

Well I feel like school is just around the corner. Actually classes start back on August 23, so I still have a little time left. I actually ordered my books on Monday.. two I was able to get through Half.com and saved $108 off the cost of buying them used at school. The other two I couldn’t find online, so I put two used ones on hold until Aug. 13. At least if I pick them up on the 13th they will give me a 10% discount.. that covers the 10% sales tax that I’d have to pay anyways. There’s nothing like spending money, eh?

Ok.. back to checking mail..doing some surfing, and sipping my 2000 Johannisberg Reisling thats calling my name.

Morning..

Its already looking like a busy day today. AC people are coming around 10am to do a check-up on the AC units. Then after lunch the people from Invisible Fence are coming out to do a estimate. We looked at putting up chainlink, but wouldn’t that kind of clash with our current landscape? LOL..I know the deer wouldn’t like a fence one bit!

The new puppy checked out just fine at the Vets office..all paperwork transfered from the previous vet, and now she’s caught up on all her shots, and on heartworm preventive. Both dogs are getting along fine.. Kat, our older dog finally layed down the rules this morning..showing her just “who’s the boss around here”. LOL..and no it’s not Tony Danza either! Liberty hasn’t messed with the birds today too much, but I’m still keeping an eye on her. Last thing we need is a run in with the dog and our Amazon…

Ok.. time to put the dogs up, as the AC folks should be here any time now.

Update from the weekend

We had a really busy weekend..its hard to know where exactly to start
(plus who knows what all I’ve forgot by now).
Saturday we made homemade ice cream..blueberry to be exact. I have a
hint for you about making ice cream too. Don’t use your old hand
crank ice cream maker. Why? Because once everything started setting
up the paddle broke! Yep.. now I have a ‘handy dandy’ umbrella holder
that looks remarkably like a old ice cream maker! Looks pretty
good..nice cedar bucket too! But we did get 5 quarts of ice cream
out of it before it died.

I still haven’t picked up the antique china cabinet I bought. Since
we don’t have a truck we’re borrowing one from someone, and now its
decided to rain everyday! I can’t wait to get it home, and everything
into it. I’ll share photos once we get it home.

Sunday G headed back home..the two of us left here around 7:30-8:00am,
driving towards Atlanta..big mistake! There’s two routes in getting
to his house..one through Birmingham, and the other through Atlanta.
Each route is about the same mileage, so I decided to go a different
route this time. Traffic wasn’t tooooo bad, but the A$$ who was
sitting in the middle of 5 lanes, with his door open, talking on his
cellphone for a tow was the last straw..LOL. Seems his car died, and
he just sat there..no flashers or anything. I just knew he was about
to get run over when one of those huge wreckers flew up behind him,
cars going in different directions, cutting people off just to keep
from hitting him. It’s a wonder he even had a car door!

So after getting through Atlanta, we stopped in Calhoun GA at one of
the outlet centers there. I’ve fallen in love with the Gap Outlet!!
Talk about some great prices! We did some shopping, then headed on
to G’s house. With the car about 100 pounds lighter from everything
he accumulated while here, I headed back home..hoping to out run a bad
storm coming into Chattanooga.

I managed to stay ahead of that storm..but hit another one about
Birmingham. The drive wasn’t too bad..a little over 550 miles in
all..and I was home at 6pm as planned. Talk about drive around the
block! G commented that I was going to be driving in one huge circle
by the time I get back home.

Once home I was so tired that I was dozing on the couch before I knew it.
