Today we visited a grist mill about a mile or two from the house… I know what we’re having tomorrow for breakfast.. homemade pancakes from locally ground wheat.. yum! Topped off with local cane syrup too! While we were there we saw where they grind all the corn and wheat. We also came home with some yellow and white grits too. Want some for your own? Visit Oakview Farms Granery.
It’s amazing how nice people here can be. Funny thing is they seem to know everyone in our neighborhood too. We were again told of all the deer we’ll be seeing around the house, and about a family of foxes that live by our street, and that the area is also known for wolves, coyotes, and bobcats.
After our trip to the mill we headed over to Walmart to do a little grocery shopping. Believe it or not the store was not crowded at all, and no lines to check-out. I’m sure things may get busy closer to Christmas.. but then again today is the Saturday before Christmas.
Well time to check out some television, eat some roasted chestnuts and start making some Glühwein for later.
Keep warm and Merry Christmas from our home to yours!!
